Mixing In The Old With The New

A blank canvas excites me but moving into a partially furnished home presented the opportunity for me to step outside my comfort zone and challenge myself. When it comes to home decor my approach is simple, make it feel like home. The most cost effective way I achieved this is by mixing the old in with the new. I added my light green sheer curtains with those greenish blue & white pattern curtains which was already there. I placed my faux green palm plant which was perviously in my old living room in the corner of dining room which really made the window treatment standout. I'm a California native residing in New Jersey so including reminiscent touches of home such as palm plants means a lot to me. For a my dining room center piece I use my glass gold mirror which previously held my perfumes on our old bedroom dresser. I purchased it from Target for around $20. The accent faux palm plant that I placed on top of the mirror was purchased at Burlington for around $20, I find so many amazing affordable decor pieces and furniture at Burlington. I kept the center piece simple by just adding a elegant candle in front of the plant. I found the table mats at burlington as well for around $5. The glasses & plates setting was purchased at Marshall's many moons ago. I found the little vintage wood cabinet which I use as a bar in my favorite local thrift store for only $12.99. I was very apprehensive about buying this only because I had envisioned a completely different look for our bar area. As I was mentally debating this a professional savvy thrift shopper came over and insisted that I buy this quality solid wood piece. She's from the old school and knew quality lol! I'm so very happy I considered her expertise as the little cabinet flows very nicely with the dining room table. She also suggested I buy a bottle of Old English in dark brown to give it a little restoration and boy did that little cabinet clean up nicely. I placed my chrome wine bottle rack and wine quote on top for the complete finish. The decorative mirror hanging above the bar was purchased at Ross while I was still living in Cali around 2003, I think. The only new purchase for our dining area was the little $12.99 wood cabinet, budget wise think I did okay.

I'm sharing my natural current skin care products I've been really into lately. As a woman in my 30s taking care of my skin is now a priority. I've been working in the makeup & skin industry since my early 20s so I know how expensive skin care products can be. It can be very disappointing when products made with strong harsh chemicals cause breakouts, textured skin, and redness. I worked for Chanel as a Counter manager and freelancer for two years. As an employee for the company we received gratis to increase our product knowledge. Some of their hydration skin care products worked for me while others would cause breakouts. The average person cannot afford Chanel and some of the other higher-end companies skin care products. I'm that "Beauty On A Budget" kinda of girl. All of the products featured in the video are very affordable, to watch full length tutorial click on youtube link below. Free Shipping VersaSpa Black Opal Beauty
